Exercise and Insulin

Exercise has the ability to improve insulin sensitivity. As diabetes is a disease of insulin resistance, University of Michigan associate professor of kinesiology Jeffrey Horowitz hopes that understanding how exercise changes our bodies' use of fuel may lead to better diabetes management. In particular, his research team is studying how exercise affects the movement of fat within the body. The path that fat travels determines whether it will interfere with insulin's ability regulate blood sugar levels.
