Watch this video about super-efficient car races on HowStuffWorks. In 2004 the record fuel efficiency for a combustion engine vehicle was set by a team from France at 3410 kilometers per liter. In 2005 a hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle from Switzerland managed the equivalent of 3836 kilometers per liter - the equivalent of driving from Paris to Moscow on one liter of fuel.
